Vicki Frei, Paraeducator in the Clarkston School District

Vicki has spent the last 20 years enjoying her position as a LAP Assistant in the Clarkston School District.

Most recently, she has been working with a great group of 3rd and 4th grade students in an afterschool program called the "Think Tank"! These students have committed to staying after school two days a week for the next twelve weeks. Their purpose is to practice reading and math strategies that will help them increase their WASL and ITBS scores. They enjoy snacks, motivating hands-on activities, and sharing their successes!

Vicki has also been working with district administrators to provide opportunities for paras to prepare for the ETS and Portfolio options to meet the NCLB Paraeducator Requirements. Recently, many paras in the district took the practice test (on an early release day). Each participant was given key to score their own test and record the numbers they missed on a grid. After all was said and done the content areas were easily identified for what study sessions are needed to meet their concerns.

According to Vicki, Clarkston is a great place to live and she is very proud of how her community and schools are working together to give students a successful educational experience.
